On Sunday 8th May, Xavier took part in the Clyde Open Judo Tournament which was held in Glasgow, Scotland. Jones, who at the time was battling food poisoning, still showed up to the competition and gave a more than credible account of himself.
After winning his first match decisively, the effects of the food poisoning started to take a further toll on him causing Jones to lose his next two matches. Despite this, he took his opponents to the full distance in both matches.
His coach Lee Calder withdrew Xavier from his fourth match in-order to preserve him from being further compromised through injury.
Xavier relishes the opportunity at the upcoming Jamie MacDonald Memorial Championships, to be held in Birmingham England this weekend.
