Seven Fatima boys competed at the recent TTTF National Aquathlon at Las Cuevas on Sunday 16th April.
James Castagne-Hay of Form 5 improved his performance from last year by finishing second overall and once again came 1st in the 16-19 age group, completing the 1000m open water swim and 5km run in a time of 34 minutes and 30 seconds. James had the fastest run in this race. (Pic 1 right)
Isaac Tuberoso of Upper 6 came 4th overall and 3rd in the age group with an outstanding performance and a time of 35:58. Isaac achieved his first podium at a National competition in multi-sport racing. He hopes to represent T&T in International competitions. (Pic 1 middle)
Rounding out the representation in this age group was Dante Pichery who finished 7th overall and was 4th in males 16-19. Dante completed the race with a time of 38:09. (Pic 1 left)
Four Fatima boys competed in the 13-15 age group. Liam D’Abadie (Pic 2), Tristan Scott (Pic 5), Xavier Bodkyn and Jacob Agostini (Pic 4)all completed the age group distance of 500m swim and 2.5km run.
Liam followed up his victory at the Secondary School’s Duathlon last term with his first event win at the National Aquathlon Championships in the boys 13-15 age group. Liam won with a time of 17:41.
Tristan’s development continues to progress with a strong and well paced effort which resulted in a strong second place finish in a time of 17:53.
Xavier finished 5th in a time of 19:37. Xavier continues to improve in his pursuit of multisport and had the fastest run in this age group with a time of 9:48.
Jacob Agostini of Form 1 had a strong swim and showed lots of stamina throughout his run. He paced himself well and finished strong in a time of 23:38. This is Jacob’s first year competing in this age group.
The National Aquathlon was one component of the selection process for the National team for the upcoming Carifta Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships in the Bahamas in August 2023.
The TTTF Secondary Schools series culminates in a Triathlon in June and we look forward to seeing our boys continue their dominance in the Schools Series.
